Deborah Birds striking photographic portfolio, ‘Paper Scissors Ice’ developed from an interest in the properties of naturally occurring ice, which lead her to consider using ice as a creative medium. The distinctive fractures, fissures and bubbles that she observed within natural ice, compelled her to incorporate it into her sculpture. These original photographs capture the glowing organic surface of the sculptures and embrace the ephemeral beauty of ice.
